  • 500g (about 1 lb) button or cremini mushrooms, cleaned
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional, helps caramelize)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Prep the mushrooms Clean mushrooms using a damp cloth or paper towel (avoid soaking). If large, cut them in half; leave small ones whole.

Sauté Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms and sauté for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to brown.

Add flavor Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly (don’t burn it). Add balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let the sauce simmer until it thickens and coats the mushrooms (about 3–5 minutes).
